Wow, this looks great!!! (And I thought the “real Jeeps have round headlights!” crowd sort of faded away when the Liberty was introduced?) I’m not seeing obvious rust, so it’s not that kind of project car. Will it be a daily driver, or a trail rig?

Of all David’s strange, excitedly-described purchases, this one seems incredibly tame and reasonable. And by that I mean I could see other humans besides him finding it desirable — not something you can always say for Mr. Tracy.

I love the ol’ square headlights and I secretly enjoy that going away from round bothered Jeep people.

A perfectly cromulent Jeep. Now swap out that front fascia for a round headlight version as God intended.

Not a member yet (waiting for y’all to make comment notifications work), but I saw what you posted for sale on Marketplace, so I can maths my way to a Jeep YJ.

I’m jealous.
Trying to find a reasonably rust-free older Jeep is impossible here in the Northeast.
To the point that I’m actually thinking of a side business buying Wranglers down south and transporting them up here.
Even some of the JKs have rusted out and JLs are still too expensive for me.

I know you love XJs and ZJs, and to be fair, they are great. However, as the owner of a clean low-mileage Michigan TJ (formerly my Aunt’s, always garaged and never driven in the winter), I’m happy that you’re making the step up.

You deserve a truly clean Jeep (though the J10 and remaining ZJ have their own charm) and you deserve an open top Jeep seeing as you live in CA and can enjoy it pretty much year round. That thing is beautiful. This begs the question though… what, if anything, are you selling in its place? Or is it nothing? We know you’ve been projecting the “new and improved” west coast DT, but haven’t forgotten where you come from 😉

Sell the hard top (that you will not need in California) in Detroit and you’ll probably have bought the jeep for free!

YES! Let’s go overlanding on the Rimrocker trail! I’ve got my CJ-5 ready to go.

Good for you! I realize you’re a Jeep afficionado and quite frankly I don’t get the appeal (with or without rust) but I’m happy for you that you’re discovering life beyond rust buckets!!!

Also, I assume Beau is imputing income via payroll for each additional Galpin Ford back lot parking fringe benefit, so factor that in ;). This ain’t Troy, Toto …

I presume it’s a 4 cylinder auto. Only way to explain why DT wants it looking so nice.

That plate is out of sequence for the year of the vehicle, so did it come from out of state, is it a salvage title, or did it previously have a vanity plate? Choice A or B gives the opportunity for some rust or mystery issues.

7 series plates where ~2010-~2015.

Step 1: move to LA
Step 2: acquire working vehicle
Step 3: acquire second working vehicle
Step 4: acquire Blaupunkt sound system
Step 5: stop freebasing
Step 6: die of tetanus as god intended

Just a warning

Nice YJ, but that looks like it doesn’t need any work at all to go to Moab.

For what it’s worth, this is the model MacGyver drove in the original series! With the hardtop no less.
